The Pebbles of The Roc: Beanie Sigel vs. Jay-Z
GhOsT | November 4, 2009 | 5:13 pm

As you may know, Beans is not happy with how Hov has been treating him and the other former members of Rocafella records.  In the two videos above, he tells why he’s unhappy, and 50 chimes in where he can in order to make the feud as big as possible for his own marketing benefits for his new CD.  I have mixed feelings about this whole situation.  In a way I feel that the public doesn’t really know what went down behind the scenes, so maybe Jay had more reasons then we know for how he treated Beans. However in all honesty i’m not surprised about this situation, and kind of feel good in a way that Jay is being taken off his politically correct non confrontational pedestal.  Beanie and Jay always seemed tight, always one of the most noticeable connections that Jay had with another artist, even more than Kanye and bleek at one time.  I liked Jay’s new project, but dude is trying to be bigger than rap when he’s not.  He’s rich, but money doesn’t define him as a person, and I feel people confuse this, and put him on a higher level because of his financial status.  Nas won their battle!  Lyrically, although suave, Jay can’t compete with a lot of rappers today.  As 50 said, Jay’s success does somewhat come from how much money he’s able to put into marketing his projects.  Jay seems to have even used his influence on the game to fire the radio personality who held the first Beans interview where he talked about the situation (Charlamane).  Check out these videos, from my view it seems money is more important than family for Jay nowadays, and everything that the Roc Familia stood for has been blown away in the sand.  It’ll be interesting to see if Sigel really does join the G-unit roster, and how that will play out.  Mo’ money, mo’ problems…..Am I my brothers keeper?

J. Cole = The Next Big Thing

J Cole Ghost FactionI’m not the first one to say it, but I feel it needs to be said once again.  J Cole is the next big thing in hip-hop. I must say I’m gettin pretty damn good at making these predictions.  Everyone’s talking about Drake now, and yes he’s ill, but i’m not feelin his product as much as when the mixtape version of so far gone came out.  Drake seems to be immersed into the mainstream to a point where his music has already changed in a matter of months, and honestly that turns me off of his music.  Cole perfects his art by combining drakes punchlines with his masterful storytelling.  His songs are witty, clean, and meaningful.  I feel like he kills it in all the lyrical categories that I value in hip-hop.  He has the Jay-Z cosign and is the first Roc Nation artist besides Hova to release an album this winter.  He has put out probably the best mixtape of the summer, The Warm Up, and was featured on Blueprint 3; and he had one verse better the all of jay’s verses on that song.  Nobody knows bout this dude except bloggers and blog readers, but get ready, because this guy is gonna blow up in a big way.  Here’s his single off his latest mixtape, and if you don’t know about this man check out the The Warm Up.

Jay-Z Death of AutoTune I’m not a die-hard Jay fan, I love a lot of his music, but also think a lot of it is mediocre.  However, this shit right here…is amazing.  The track is called Death Of Autotune, a message against our new singing generation of rappers, and even though I dig some autotune from time to time this shit is fire.  This is the best Jay track I’ve heard in a while, and if this is a sign of whats to come, Blueprint 3 is going to be a classic.  The LP comes out on 9/11, and is mostly produced by No I.D. and Kanye.  This track is going to be on heavy circulation on my ipod.  Maybe it’s time for autotune to die.  Jay could transform the game with this new CD, bringing his classic hip-hop demeanor together with the new production styles of 2009.  If hip-hop is dead, than it’s chillin in heaven, because however you view it a lot of quality hip-hop is about to drop to the masses.  Check out the track below, and stay tuned for Jay-Z’s radio single which supposedly features Drake.
