This shit looks like its gonna be pretty ill. The Soulful dudes from Cookin Soul and Don “CANNON” Cannon put together this mash up of Jay-Z and Game Songs. Should be a good holiday listen, shit comes out on Christmas Eve. Check out the project’s trailer below:
In Hip-Hop, success is short lived, a relentless genre where you can suddenly become “hot” or “not”. Every once in a while a new sound infiltrates the system and defines a new form of “hot”. Past trends of new sounds have been from Tribe, to Wu-tang, to Biggie, to Jay, to Em, to Mos Def and Talib, to 50, to The Clipse, To Wayne, to Drake. An evolving escalator of artists representing trends that not only influences the genre, but popular culture as well. Yelawolf could be the next dude to step on this escalator. He’s from that dirty region south of the mason dixon, and spits hot fiyaa. It sounds corny, but his lyrical style can kinda be described as a southern Eminem. His flow is a mixture of a new type or approach to swagger and the typical southern mentality. Dude is ill, and spits fast raps without taking any dopeness out of each line by how quick he goes in at all. Yelawolf’s distinct style if it caught on could be a new step in Hip-hop. 30 years ago who would’ve thought that in the future white dudes from the south would be nice on the mic like this haha. If you haven’t heard of this skrilla I suggest checkin out the cut I posted to the right in the “crisp new cuts” section. Enjoy the music and be ready to hear this dude’s name a lot more in the future…o yeah, he was just featured in a juelz video…makin moves:

Wow…my favorite underground producer has reached into the mainstream of the trap and pulled out this Young Jeezy gem. That’s right people, El-p and Jeezy, this shit is ridiculous, off a new compilation being put together by adult swim. If you like mainstream dirty south music: you’ll like this shit. If you like underground indie hip-hop, you’ll like this shit. If you’re a fan of experimental music: you’ll like this shit. Click the link below to experience this unlikely fusion.
Props to 2dbz
Curren$y parted ways from the Ca$h Money Click a long time ago, probably based on creative differences, corporate offices constantly delaying his project, and / or not being able to put up with Wayne’s ridiculousness. I was cruisin through YouTube last night blunted looking for some Curren$y clips and came across this vid of him, Wayne, and a whole bunch of drunken drugged out mufuckers chillin on the Weezy tour bus. Check it out below:
This reminds me of a different time in Wayne’s career, a time with just as much siuzzurp, but a little less rock haha. So the question is: Where would Curren$y be if he was still signed to Young Money? How would this have affected the now mainstream Young Money machine? Who knows…all I know is that I love what Curren$y is doing and love a lot of the stuff Wayne’s involved in too. It’s a combo that i wish was still in existence. Hopefully one day they will join forces again and produce some dope New Orleans music. Below is Curren$y’s single off his never released Cash Money effort featuring Weezy and Remy Ma.
“nigga skip all the bull shit, red and black jordan number 1’s, im on my bulls shit, hustle like grocery carts, you push it, nigga spend good money on it if its good shit, im on the set wit young roddy on this hood shit, chillin like a villain, hope the popo dont ruin it, chicks dig what i spit, tell me to keep doin it, chicks whipped by the dick, want me to keep doin it, cant get what i get, i cop kicks numerous, limited editions, spitta shop for exclusiveness, fuck fuckin wit fuck boys and they fuckin foolishness, got ya homies watchin ya back like a big booty bitch, cuz ya cant maneuver the mat without losin it, jack boys screamin on ya, makin ya move ya shit, i might see two, but they dont reach in my cooler slick, try to catch a cold, ya catch an uzi clip”
This is just one of the many ill lines that Curren$y has spit for us lately. Dude has a very unique swagger unlike anybody else in the game right now. He’s been on a true hip-hop journey; starting at No Limit records back in the day with Master P, then being Lil’ Wayne’s prodigy for years, and then finally breaking off into the independent hip-hop scene to do his own thing. And yes people, he does his own thing very fuckin well. There’s one of his tracks in the Crisp New Cuts section for ya’ll to check out, but if you want more I suggest supporting Curren$y’s grind and purchasing his underground classic album This Ain’t No Mixtape by clicking HERE. In other news, there’s a rumor that he’s forming a group with Mos Def and Jay Electronica!!!…..Wow, stay tuned for more info.

That’s right people, Lupe’s comin with the heat this week. In the video below he describes his motivation for putting out this tape, focusing on how he thinks he’s better than almost anybody out right now. This tape is going to be his venue for proving his mastery on the mic. In all honesty I do feel that he is one of the most talented lyricists out right now. Very excited for this dope mixtape to drop, and even more excited for his much anticipated 3rd studio album to come out; titled Lasers.
As you may know, Beans is not happy with how Hov has been treating him and the other former members of Rocafella records. In the two videos above, he tells why he’s unhappy, and 50 chimes in where he can in order to make the feud as big as possible for his own marketing benefits for his new CD. I have mixed feelings about this whole situation. In a way I feel that the public doesn’t really know what went down behind the scenes, so maybe Jay had more reasons then we know for how he treated Beans. However in all honesty i’m not surprised about this situation, and kind of feel good in a way that Jay is being taken off his politically correct non confrontational pedestal. Beanie and Jay always seemed tight, always one of the most noticeable connections that Jay had with another artist, even more than Kanye and bleek at one time. I liked Jay’s new project, but dude is trying to be bigger than rap when he’s not. He’s rich, but money doesn’t define him as a person, and I feel people confuse this, and put him on a higher level because of his financial status. Nas won their battle! Lyrically, although suave, Jay can’t compete with a lot of rappers today. As 50 said, Jay’s success does somewhat come from how much money he’s able to put into marketing his projects. Jay seems to have even used his influence on the game to fire the radio personality who held the first Beans interview where he talked about the situation (Charlamane). Check out these videos, from my view it seems money is more important than family for Jay nowadays, and everything that the Roc Familia stood for has been blown away in the sand. It’ll be interesting to see if Sigel really does join the G-unit roster, and how that will play out. Mo’ money, mo’ problems…..Am I my brothers keeper?
